Federal Judge talks about the night he was shot at his Detroit home

Berg says when he said no, that is when one of the men produced a handgun. "There was a brief hesitation, not a struggle, and he aimed [the gun] at my leg and shot me."

Berg recently had surgery and is now walking with the help of crutches. He says he is thankful for those who came to his aid, including his wife, his neighbors and the Detroit Police Department who rushed him to the hospital after the shooting.

The FBI, the U.S. Marshall's and DPD are all investigating the incident.

There is a $25,000 reward being offered by the FBI for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects who are described as two men, aged 18-25.

However, the shooting is not deterring Berg from wanting people to understand that Detroit is a great place to be and live in.

Berg and several people from the Gesu Catholic Parish in the University District have planned a peaceful march this Friday at 6 p.m.

The Walk for Hope as it is being called will go down Livernois and circle back to the church. A short prayer service is expected to be held after the march.

Berg says he hopes the walk is meant to express that his incident was a random act and that the city has a very strong opposition to violence and that the community is just not sitting on its hands, that the community is attempting to be proactive is helping to curb the violence.
