Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk celebrates 20 years

The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is celebrating 20 years this October. FOX 2 has been a proud partner in the fight for awareness and research.

This year's walk is Saturday, October 21 at Hart Plaza in Detroit. Kerri Cross from the American Cancer Society says the Detroit walk has become the fourth largest event in the nation, and has raised $13 million.

Cross also says death rates of breast cancer have gone down by 39 percent in the last 20 years, proof that these walks have made a difference.

You can hear more from her and breast cancer survivor Laura O'Neal in the video player above.
