Man charged with Kajavia Globe murder, leaving her in trash can, testifies

A 24-year-old woman murdered and her body stuffed in a trash can - and on Monday the man charged with her murder took the witness stand.

Prosecutor: "Did you have any intent to kill that young lady?"

"No, I had no reason to," he said. "I loved her. I definitely didn't want to see anything bad happen to her."

Maxwell Brack took the stand, accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Kajavia Globe. Her body was found stuffed in a garbage can near an abandoned home across from where he'd been staying on fielding street in Detroit last December.

Prosecutor: "Did you have anything to do with Kajavia's body being in that bin?"

"No," Brack said.

But Brack told the court he and Kajavia had been having sex earlier in the week - and when Globe first went missing, her mother called him at 3 a.m. and said Kajavia's boyfriend had found a video of Max and Kajavia having sex.

"This was not like her to be missing," Brack said. "I just figured John had seen the video. She didn't come home and now her mom is calling  me - it's childish - we're grown adults."

Brack also denied being the man in the skeleton mask withdrawing $500 dollars from Kajavia's account.

"I never took anything from Kajavia," he said. "I was the person she could call on to help."

Brack was asked about prior allegations of abuse.

"I never put my hands on Kajavia," he said. "I never hit her."

The prosecutor then used Brack's own interview with police against him.

On video Brack can be seen saying "I got mad and slapped her ... I smacked the (expletive) out of her."

The prosecutor ultimately forced Brack to admit he slapped Kajavia after seeing a text about another man.

Prosecutor: "After you saw that text message, did you slap her? Yes or no?"

"That's not the way it happened exactly," Brack said. "Some point after all of this, at that particular situation, yes. That's not the situation where her..."

The prosecutor then cut him off - "You have answered my question, please stop talking."

The defense rests and on Tuesday following closing arguments, this case will go to the jury.
