Mother of 20-month-old killed in hot bath released from jail

The mother of an Inkster boy who died after he was scalded in a bath tub this week is now out of jail and back home.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office did not receive a warrant, and Angel Rumford was released.

Earlier this week, 20-month-old Anthony Rumford died in the tub of scalding water. His older brother tried to perform CPR, but could not save the child in time.

The toddler's mother and several other children were inside the home during the incident.

Inkster police said the woman has a history with Child Protective Services. Her three children were taken away while she was still pregnant with Anthony.
