A task force is still investigating funeral homes in Detroit, and now it is receiving additional help.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig took a proactive approach after the grisly discoveries asking the state to take a comprehensive look at all funeral homes in the city.

State regulators say they affirmed something important about Detroit funeral homes - as the vast majority are doing what they're supposed to. The chief summed it up this way.

"(Licensing and Regulatory Affairs) has completed their inspections and nothing significant was found," WHO SAID.

The "regulatory move" asked for by the chief but prompted by the remains found at Cantrell and Perry, plus a whole lot more complaints about funeral homes overall.

Ten fetuses and one baby body were discovered inside the former Cantrell Funeral Home... months after it was closed for having moldy and deteriorating bodies. Sixty-three fetuses were found inside Perry Funeral Home.

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs looked at all 43 funeral homes in the city- 10 inspections were done in the last 15 months- the remaining 33 performed in the last two weeks.

The review turned up *nothing rising to a crime" but there were some smaller violations found.

Most important to remember - LARA doesn't do criminal investigations, they just refer possible crimes to the law.

Now Detroit police is handling the criminal side of things - looks to match the babies' remains found at Cantrell with their families. Six of the 11 have been identified and their parents notified.

"The others we are waiting for results from testing... it was more complicated with the labeling we found at Cantrell."

It is also important to note there are several tandem and parallel investigations. Gov. Snyder put together a team of several state departments to look at funeral homes state-wide.

LARA has also added resources for regulatory oversight of more than 700 Michigan funeral homes.

Chief Craig launched a multi-jurisdictional task force in the city.
