Police arrest three wanted in breaking and entering after chase through metro Detroit

Michigan State Police have arrested three people wanted after leading police on a chase through metro Detroit.

Warren police started the chase after a suspect was spotted breaking and entering in the city. Police say the suspects got onto westbound I-696 and that's where Michigan State Police picked up the chase.

When the suspects got to Orchard Lake, they took the exit and then went south on I-275. Michigan State Police continued to chase them south on 275 and the suspects then took the exit to go east on I-96. With speeds reaching 100 miles per hour, the three suspects were doing whatever they could, to escape.

The suspects then took another exit and crashed into the side of a Coca-Cola truck at Telegraph and Schoolcraft. All three suspects took off on foot with police right behind them.

They didn't make it far: two were arrested on the spot while a third bolted into a neighborhood. Police caught him hiding under a trampoline.

Vaughn Thompson lives in the neighborhood and watched the foot chase from his window.

"I heard the accident and I didn't know what was going on. When I looked out the window, I see the guy running through my yard," Thompson said.

Warren city officials say the men were wanted for an attempted home invasion Monday morning. Police say the Jeep Cherokee had been reported stolen, and that the suspects inside were wanted for breaking and entering.

While two of the men were cuffed and checked out by paramedics, the third kept running, looking for hiding spots. Police found him hiding under a trampoline.

"Three suspects all took off in opposite directions and every one was brought to custody," Trammel said.

The driver of the Coca Cola semi truck says he's shocked but doing fine.
