Police investigate suspicious man who entered Canton Mosque

Right now Muslims are in the middle of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer and reflection but a peaceful evening at a local mosque was interrupted Sunday evening when a man got inside, posing as a woman.

A security breach 24 hours earlier!

The person pictured is actually man dressed as a woman.

He's wearing a Niqab (nuh cob), Hijab and Burka covering his face and most of his body.

The man, posing as a woman entered through the female or sisters entrance at the mosque around 10:20 p.m. Saturday night.

He wandered through the building for 10-15 minutes, his movements captured on surveillance video.

Armed security was alerted that something was off with his behavior when they approached him the man he ran off.

The Muslim Community of Western Suburbs released a statement on social media explaining what happened. 

They add - "we pray for continued safety and security in our houses of worships and schools."

Canton Police are calling this a 'suspicious situation' - and are currently following up leads. In the meantime, they're beefing up security.
