Police surround Royal Oak home after person was shot inside

Police surrounded a home in Royal Oak early Monday morning after they learned a person had been shot inside.

The Royal Oak Mayor, Jim Ellison, says they got a call from Beaumont Hospital overnight that a person had come in with multiple gunshot wounds. Police then went to the home on Lindon Street, which is near 12 Mile and Rochester roads.

He says authorities were unsure if the suspected shooter was still inside the home, so they treated it like a live shooter situation and informed neighbors to stay away. Some were told to stay in the basement and could not leave their homes.

Berkley Animal Control was also on the scene.

The condition of the shooting victim is not known at this time. It is unclear at this time, also, how the victim was taken to the hospital.

The suspect is still on the loose. This is a developing story. Stay with FOX 2 for updates.
