Ryan Ermanni flies with Breitling Jet Team on L-39C Albatros

YPSILANTI, Mich. (WJBK) - As part of the second and last year of their American Tour, the Breitling Jet Team will headline the Thunder Over Michigan Airshow this weekend. As the flight team got ready to go wheels up, FOX 2's Ryan Ermanni was one of the lucky ones to get to take a ride in one of seven L-39C Albatros jets.

Justin Abdelkader and Dylan Larkin also got to take a ride in the sky with Ryan.

Being claustrophibic and having a fear of heights, Ryan was a little hesitant about taking the ride.

"I've got to learn how to say no," he joked.

But, when it was all said and done -- Ryan says it was the ride of his life. He even gave it a go flying inverted.

He was also proud to announce that his sick bag stayed clean.

As for Abdelkader and Larkin, they had a great time, too.

"Right from takeoff, it was cool seeing all the planes in formation, doing the rolls and everything," Abdelkader says.

"It turned out to be a lot of fun. We were up in the air; I had a smile on my face the whole time, enjoyed the whole thing. Nothing crazy happened and it was a smooth flight, so it was pretty fun," Larkin says.

The Breitling Jet Team is the largest professional civilian jet team in the world. You can see them in action at this weekend's Thunder Over Michigan show.

"This is one of their last stops on their North American Tour. You've got to remember that these guys are based in Europe, so they never come over here," says Thunder Over Michigan event director Kevin Walsh.
