FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - A man who fell through the ice on Lake Erie in Monroe County is still missing.
Authorities say a man riding either a snowmobile or ATV fell through the ice around 9 p.m. on Wednesday near Stoney Point Peninsula in Frenchtown Township.
Authorities say the man was riding approximately 1000 feet offshore when the ice broke. Authorities searched Wednesday night near a hole in the ice, but the victim nor the vehicle have been recovered.
Due to the unstable ice and warming weather conditions, the search for the victim has been temporarily suspended. It's not known yet when authorities will resume the search.
Authorities haven't yet given the identity of the missing man.
