Students at Michigan State push for multicultural meeting space

EAST LANSING, Mich. - EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State University students are advocating for a new multicultural facility on campus to house minority organizations and provide meeting spaces and resources for students from marginalized communities.

University data indicates that MSU welcomed its most diverse class to date in fall 2018. But the Council of Racial and Ethnic Students says the school's minority organizations are spread across campus in small basement offices.

Junior Sarah McConville is among the student organizers. She told the

MSU's Office of Cultural and Academic Transitions Interim Director Terrence Frazier says he supports the idea. The organizers are preparing a proposal to present to university administrators this fall.
