A man police were looking for inside a locked-down hotel Monday morning has been shot and killed, FOX 2's Hannah Saunders has confirmed with police on scene.

The Embassy Suites in Romulus was locked down Monday morning as police searched for Pablo Medina inside the hotel, who was wanted in connection with the shooting deaths of two women in Detroit over the weekend. One of the women was his wife, and police say they were in the process of getting a divorce. The other woman was in a car with the wife, and both were fatally shot.

Police spent five hours trying to talk the man out of the hotel on Wickham Road near the Detroit Metro Airport. He was identified as Pablo Medina, 41, and is believed to have killed his wife and her friend Saturday

The Embassy Suites in Romulus is on Wickham Road, across Interstate-94 from the Detroit Metro Airport.

Police were going room to room, looking for Medina around noon. When they entered one of the rooms they say he exited a closet with a gun. The police fired their weapons, killing the man.

"The subject exited the closet with a nickel plated revolver, pointed in at the officers, the officers opened fire killing the suspect," Romulus Police Director ff Public Safety Jadie Settles said.

Police say Medina was fired from his job at the hotel on Friday, and that they believe he was staying in the hotel since he was fired. However, according to the company that owns the hotel, Medina was not fired. The company says he had worked for the hotel for 6-7 years and they never reported any issues with him.

The company reports that he had been taken off the schedule for a few days and should not have been at work.

Employees became aware and told police, prompting the lock down of the 150-room hotel earlier Monday morning.

"Once we knew the folks staying at the hotel were safe, it was just a matter of doing a systematic search and taking our time," Settles said. "He was terminated but he was still in possession of a master key which is one reason why we chose to evacuate the entire hotel, prior to us doing door to door room search."

Medina was wanted for the deaths of his wife, 45-year-old Martha Medina and her friend 27- Nayely Martinez. They were shot dead in cold blood on Detroit's southwest side Saturday. Police believe Medina, who was an embassy suites employee, was hiding there all weekend.

Police said Medina did not shoot a round at any of the officers, once confronted, and no police officers were injured in the shooting.
