Tigers' Lakeland home damaged by Hurricane Irma

(WJBK) - The winter home of the Detroit Tigers saved Florida residents from Hurricane Irma's wrath but sustained heavy damage from the storm.

The Detroit Tigers turned their Lakeland, Florida, location into a safe haven for Florida residents. The pictures of the facility a few days after Irma moved on show that the storm did significant damage.

The 84-acre complex was turned into local headquarters for emergency personnel. According to Jason Beck, the Tigers beat reporter for MLB.com, there were a lot downed trees and other debris but the facility did not sustain much heavy damage:

The facility spared multiple from the heavy winds and rain from Irma, which made landfall Sunday morning as a Category 4 hurricane.
