Trio charged in Shelby Township after alleged Ulta Beauty robbery spree

A trio's alleged plot of stealing from multiple Ulta Beauty stores across the country was foiled by Shelby Township Police after some incredible investigative work.

What they're saying:

Sgt. Kevin Bailey with Shelby Township police says the three women have gone state to state, 18 to be exact, stealing around $250,000 worth of products from Michigan stores alone.

Officials say these Ulta theft rings have been popping up for the last decade.

A crew in Philadelphia was caught on surveillance video two years ago.

"They would probably have someone driving, and then someone looking out make sure they’re not getting caught while the other one is collecting the items and then they’d walk out the store," said Bailey.

Police say the trio made one major mistake: using the same getaway car and license plate during their alleged multi-state spree. Their license plate was photographed across the country.

"They were able to locate the three females locate the vehicle and more stolen merch inside the vehicle," said Bailey.

The three were charged in Ohio and then sent north to Shelby Township, where they were charged with retail fraud and given $25,000 cash bonds.
