WATCH: Mother of baby found in Roseville recycling center charged
FOX 2 is told Alexis has three other children, all of whom had been previously taken away by authorities.
Workers found the body of the baby the night of January 14 while sorting through trash at the ReCommunity recycling center on Groesbeck. The boy is said to have been between 1 and 3 days old.
Police allege Alexie delivered the baby boy around Dec. 22 and he died two days later. Authorities believe she kept the baby in a garage until Christmas day, then moved the body to a shed at her parent's home in Eastpointe.
Somehow the child ended up in a recycling bin and workers at the recycling center in Roseville found the baby wrapped in a black shirt.
Police executed search warrants Monday evening after making the arrest, but would not say where they were searching.
The Roseville Police Chief James Berlin tells FOX 2 the funeral expenses for the baby are being donated by local companies. Local businesses and community members are contributing a casket, headstone and cemetery plot. Burial is planned at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
