Water main break leaves two Dearborn Heights cars frozen in a thick layer of ice
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (FOX 2) - The weather has been frightful across Southeast Michigan as a multi-day deep freeze has left dangerous conditions for people outside.
It did not help for two people in Dearborn Heights, whose cars were in the path of a water main break.
The backstory:
Cheryl Fritz, a grandmother in Metro Detroit, went on a vacation with her two grandchildren, who left their cars at her house as they went to Nashville, Tennessee.
After Monday’s water main break, and other cars splashing water, the cars were completely solidified in ice.

Detroit street flooded and frozen after water main break
As Detroit is locked into the coldest temperatures of the season, a water main broke on the city's west side, flooding and then freezing the street.
Paul Vanderplow with the Dearborn Heights Office of the Mayor said members of the DPW have been hard at work for days to get the two cars free. They are hoping to get the cars towed out and to a warming center so they can de-ice the cars.
What's next:
Still a big question, whether some kind of warming center for these cars will even run again- or remain a ‘car-cicle.’
