'Where is she?' Vigil for Ashley Elkins held three weeks after disappearance

Ashley Elkins' family and friends held a candlelight vigil for her on Saturday, Jan. 25.

"God we ask that you touch this family tonight."

Elkins has been missing since Jan. 2 from Warren. Her ex-boyfriend, De'Andre Booker, was arrested for lying to police, but currently faces no other charges.

"We're constantly asking ourselves ‘where is she’," said Taylor Redmond, Elkins' cousin. "I know we're supposed to presume she's no longer with us, but it's hard for me to come to terms with that honestly."

Investigators searched a Macomb County landfill for days searching for Elkins' remains, but they were unsuccessful.

Her loved ones held a vigil for her in Roseville outside the apartment complex where Booker lived. It's believed to be the last place that she was seen alive.

"Whatever happened, it happened. Just give us closure," said Monika Elkins, Ashley's mother. "You called me Mama Love. You loved me, I loved you. We cared about you. Just please let me know where she is, so I can bury her."

Much like an Amber Alert, family members are calling for an Ashley Alert for missing and endangered women.

"We want Ashley's name to mean something to others. Our young women, our mothers, should not have to be abused… should not have to be killed," said Maurice Morton, Elkins' uncle and the family spokesperson. "Let's put it out there. Ashley Alert."

"Ashley knows that she was loved. Now she knows that she was loved even more," said Monika. "An angel… just always happy, life of the party, loved her kids, loved her family. She was just a good person."

Her family and friends are not giving up. A GoFundMe has been set up for Ashley Elkins' two young sons.
