Wilton Speight to transfer

Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight tweeted Sunday evening that he is going to transfer for his final year of eligibility.

Speight, 22, was injured on September 23rd against Purdue and has yet to be cleared to return.  In four games this season, he was 44 of 81 for 581 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.  He was also sacked eight times.  Michigan went 4-0 in games he started this season and 8-4 overall.

The Richmond, Va native missed one game a season ago due to injury, but started twelve and led the Wolverines to a 9-3 record while the Wolverines went 10-3 overall.  A season ago he threw for 2,538 yards with 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Brandon Peters and Dylan McCaffrey are expected to battle for the starting quarterback job next season.
