This exemption helps low-income families pay some of their heating expenses if they are a qualified Michigan homeowners or renters. Detroit Homeowners Property Exemption (HOPE) is November 1st. This exemption provides an opportunity for homeowners to be exempt from their current year property taxes based on household income or circumstances.
