Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announces plan for free college tuition for frontline workers

The plans were scuttled due to the drive-in exceeding the proper social distancing guidelines as set by Gretchen Whitmer. The plans was to allow 165 cars for the five-acre field with social distancing enforced.

"Historically when Americans have put their lives on the line to defend the rest of us from a foreign enemy, we have shown our gratitude by giving them educational opportunities to improve their lives," she said.

The plaintiffs in Martinko et. al. v. Whitmer et. al. alleged that the “mandatory quarantine” imposed by the Stay Home, Stay Safe order (EO 2020-59) and the intrastate travel restrictions contained in an earlier version of the order (EO 2020-42) violate their rights to both procedural due process and substantive due process, according to a release.

Protesters rallied outside the home of Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Thursday, saying her Stay Home, Stay Safe order is unconstitutional sand that it targets Michigan's small businesses.

The current stay at home policy expires on April 30th.   Numerous sources have confirmed the date and also indicate that the governor is likely to reopen some businesses on May 1 that have limited contact with the general population.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said during a press conference on Wednesday that she expects a short-term extension to the Stay Home, Stay Safe order will be necessary, which is currently set to expire at the end of April.
