Livonia Spree fireworks canceled, festival closes early due to severe weather risk

The Livonia Spree fireworks were canceled Sunday as severe weather moved into the area.

Livonia is in Wayne County, which was under a tornado watch when the decision to cancel was made.

The festival also closed at 5 p.m. It was scheduled to be open until midnight.

Severe weather moves toward Metro Detroit; watches, warnings issued

As severe weather moves toward Southeast Michigan, Lenawee, Monroe, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties are under a tornado watch until 11 p.m. Other counties in the area are under a severe thunderstorm warning.
