Metro Detroit: Persistent fog to start the day with mild temps prevailing

You'll need to give yourself some extra time for your morning commute; dense fog is shrouding much of Southeast Michigan.

Visibilities are reduced to less than a quarter of a mile. There was a Dense Fog Advisory for SE Michigan, but it expired at 4 a.m. Still, the fog persists and is dense enough to warrant that same Fog Advisory to extend to 10 a.m. out to our west. Caution all around.

Milder temperatures today with highs in the 40s instead of seasonal values. Our average readings should be around freezing for the daytime high, but we'll get back reality tomorrow as colder air filters back into the region. Highs Tuesday reflective of that: 32 degrees.

A rain-snow mix settles in to our north today. Saginaw, Flint, and Bay City will receive snow and freezing rain. There is a chance for light snow to develop near Port Huron, but our next organized system will be Wednesday. Rain and snow are expected midweek with temperatures settling in around freezing.
