3 metro Detroiters competing on new season of MasterChef

Award-winning chefs Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi welcome 40 new home cooks into the MasterChef kitchen for Season Seven.

Three metro Detroiters are competing this season, Neco Washington, Zack Wilson and Brian Schneble. They joined us in the FOX 2 Cooking School to tell us more about their cooking, and to share some recipes with us. You can find their recipes below and watch their segments in the video player above.

Neco's "The Bad Ass" sandwich

She hopes to open her own food truck, and sell this B.A. sandwich on it.

Marinated chicken breast, arugula, sheep cheese, Red onion, tomato, avocado spread, red leaf lettuce and toum served on french baguette.

It's accompanied with our red skin potato salad, which is red skin potatoes, red onion, scallions, green and red peppers, celery, boiled eggs and mayonaisse. She hopes to open her own food truck. 

Zack's shrimp tacos

The ingredients are: shrimp, blackening seasoning, cabbage, jalapeños, limes, corn tortillas, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, and hot sauce.

Schneebs Crab Cakes

Ingredients:
1. Crab cakes
a. 1 lb Lump Crab Meat
b. ½ cup Panko Bread Crumbs
c. 1 TBSP. finley diced Jalapeno
d. 1 TBSP. finely diced celery
e. 2 TBSP. finely diced mulit-colored bell peppers
f. 1 TBSP. finely diced red onion
g. 1 egg
h. 2 TBSP. mayo
i. 1 tsp hot sauce (siracha, red hot, tabasco, etc.)
j. 2 tsp. Worcestershire
k. 2 tsp. Dijon Mustard
2. Spicy Slaw
a. ¼ wedge of napa cabbage thinly sliced
b. ¼ each red, yellow and orange bell pepper thinly sliced
c. ½ Jalapeno (deseeded) thinly sliced
d. ¼ cup chopped cilantro
e. 2 TBSP. Mayo
f. ¼ cup rice wine vinegar
g. 2 tsp. sesame oil
h. 1 TBSP. hot sauce (siracha, red hot, tobacco, etc.)
i. 1 to 2 TBSP. lemon juice from half of lemon
j. Salt and pepper to taste
3. Spicy Mayo
a. 3 TBSP. Mayo
b. 1 to 2 TBSP. lemon juice form half of lemon squeezed
c. 1 TBSP. hot sauce (siracha, red hot, tobacco, etc.)

Recipe:
1. Crab Cakes
a. Combine panko and lump crab meat in mixing bowl and fold together gently making sure not to break apart the crab meat
b. In separate bowl combine all other ingredients and mix together well
c. Gently fold wet ingredients into the crab meat and panko
d. Form small crab cakes for appetizer or large crab cakes as a dinner portion
e. Place on a baking sheet and broil under high heat until lightly browned on top
f. Remove from oven and let cool just for a minute and then plate.  Place small portion of spicy slaw alongside and top using the spicy aioli or may sauce
2. Spicy Slaw
a. Combine cabbage, peppers and cilantro in mixing bowl and toss to combine
b. Combine all other ingredients on separate bowl and mix well
c. Combine with Cabbage mixture and toss to combine
3. Spicy Mayo
a. Combine all ingredients together and stir to combine
