Money Monday: Wage garnishing

WJBK - It's a Money Monday, and we're talking about what happens when you owe money and they garnish your wages. This is the season when that tends to happen a lot.

Attorney Michael Jaafar from the Dearborn firm Jaafar and Madhi Law Group was here and spoke about why this happens so often.

This is an issue that is plaguing tens of thousands of Michiganders. A wage garnishment is when a creditor takes 25 percent of the gross amount of your paycheck in order to offset it against a debt you owe them.
