A 13-year-old is recovering after being shot in Detroit.

Tyrone Gladden was shot multiple times with an assault rifle on at 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Mackenzie and Terry on Detroit's west side.

Family members of Tyrone Gladden are shocked after the teenager was shot Sunday night.

"I was in the house and somebody came down the street and told me my little brother was shot," said Gladden's brother.

"Why would you try to do that to a kid," Gladden said. "Even if they were having problems with anybody. Why do that?"

Investigators say Tyrone was just walking down the street with two other kids when a car drove by and someone shot Tyrone, leaving him in temporary serious condition.

"He is the only kid that comes around, he cleans up this neighborhood, cuts everybody's grass," said his brother. "He's not a bad kid. Getting out of school. He isn't a bad kid.

"Most kids at 13, they're out running the street. He' trying to clean up the streets."

"They say 'black lives matter' show us then, instead of killing each other," said a neighbor who knows Gladden.
