3 kids dead from West Bloomfield house fire; no working smoke detectors
WEST BLOOMFIELD TWP, Mich. (FOX2) - There are still many questions about a tragic house fire in West Bloomfield Township that killed three kids Sunday night. While authorities investigate, they're learning there were no working smoke detectors inside the home.
A 12-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old girl all died after the house fire on Pembury Lane on Sunday. Fire crews were called to the home just before 8 p.m. and forced their way through the front doors of the home to find the kids inside.
The three children, all siblings, were all taken to the hospital but later died.
What we know:
On Monday, a marked police car sat outside the home. A neighbor said he didn't have any indication that something was wrong.
"I didn’t hear anyone trying to get out. I didn’t hear any commotion. I’m very confused why you know you didn’t hear that or whatever," Jonathan Estes said.
West Bloomfield Fire Marshal Byron Turnquist said the home did not have working smoke detectors.

What we don't know:
Turnquist is working to answer many questions, starting with how the fire started.
"We’re taking a look at everything we’re taking everything into account," Turnquist said.
Not only that, it's not known why the children couldn't get out of the house or where the adults were.
"I’m not sure at this time, so I know the police department has interviewed the parents and I just don’t have the results of the interview, so I’m not sure where they were at the time of the fire," he said.
What you can do:
Authorities are urging everyone to check smoke alarms tonight and replace any detectors that are more than 10 years old.
