A fundraiser was thrown for Deputy David Hack, a 17 year veteran who was hit near Rochester Adams High School back in January.

Deputy Hack, husband, and father of twins was hit on Jan. 4, by a car driven by a woman on her way to Oakland University.

He suffered a severe brain injury and multiple broken bones in his neck, upper back, shoulders, arm, face and head.

“David is just an amazing man, I live right next door and the family is very special to me, I want to do everything I can to help them out,” Dawn Riecher said, friend of Deputy Hack,

After spending almost a month in Crittenton Hospital, Deputy Hack was transported to a facility in Colorado that specializes in major trauma and brain injuries.

The Hack family put together a fundraiser in his honor at Fork N Pint Restaurant in Waterford, MI.

"It speaks a lot of the community, a lot of these people are friends and family but there’s many people that we don’t even know so all that positive energy helps to get him better faster,” event organizer Earl Hardy said.
