Confirmed tornado hits Portland, MI

A tornado was reported touching down in Portland, near Lansing, according to the National Weather Service.

Portland is located roughly 30 miles northwest of Lansing, which suffered heavy damage from Monday afternoon's storms. 

About 12 buildings and six homes were destroyed as a swath of damage could be seen from the air, according to SkyFOX which flew over the scene.

No major injuries have been reported.

The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado was an EF-1 level with winds of about 100 miles per hour.
