Detroit cab driver tries to run over woman on video for $20 fare

Two women got into a fight over a $20 cab ride in a Detroit gas station parking lot and it ended with one of them pulling a knife and the cab driver trying to run over the woman.

According to a witness, it started when a passenger refused to pay the full fare.

It was around 7 p.m. Thursday night when Jameel Mohamed was working at the Sunoco on Rosa Parks. Two woman stopped in, one was a cab driver and the other was a passenger who apparently didn't pay up. The cabbie wanted her money.

"[She said] b*tch where's my money? And she's like 'I don't know what you're talking about I don't know you' or whatever," Mohamaed said.

He said that the second woman pulled a knife inside the store while the driver tried to get a weapon of her own.

"She tried to grab a coffee pot. We had to tell her to put that back and we had nothing to do with it. [You two] need to step outside," he said.

They did and they kept arguing with the passenger walking away near a fence. Mohamed said the cab driver then got into her car and drove right to the woman.

"The girl got out the store, got in her ride and just went HAM on that fence," Mohamed said. "She went around from one side of the fence to the next side ramming. She wanted to take her out. That little girl jumped on that fence like Spider Man! It was crazy!"

The driver was owed $20 by the passenger.

"If I knew that's what the case was, I would've given it to her," Mohamed said.

Employees say that things like this happen a lot but have been less often since they joined the Green Light Program.

"Green Light is perfect. It's very good. Cops come a whole lot quicker than non-greenlight stations. I think it works good for us," Mohamed said. "They see that police sign and they think twice."

Detroit police said the knife-wielding woman got away unhurt while the cabbie was arrested.

Mohamed, meanwhile, couldn't believe it.

"It was not worth it. At all. You're in jail and the other almost lost her life. Not worth it."
