Detroit man wanted for shooting ex, her new boyfriend, and killing her mother

DETROIT (WJBK) - A Detroit man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend, her new boyfriend, and then killing her mother is still on the run more than a week after the triple shooting. 

Cornelius Dennis, 32, was identified as the suspect in the triple shooting on Kensington Street in Detroit. According to police, the shooting took place just before 3 a.m. on September 24. Police say a 29-year-old woman inside the home, who the family has identified as Jasmine Williams, heard movement at a side door. Police say it was her ex-boyfriend entering the house.

Then police said he went into Williams' mother's room and killed Roberta Martin before he ran from the scene.

Almost ten days later, he's still on the run.

Martin's cousin, Floretta Humphrey, remembers the last time she saw her cousin during a chance encounter at a gas station.

"She had grabbed and hugged me and I noticed she hugged me tighter. I started to move away and I noticed that she pulled me back," Humphrey said. "I want to call you, she said, because there's something I want to talk to you about."

What that call would have been about will never be known as she was killed just days later inside her own home.

Dennis, the man police say is responsible, is still on the run.

Williams and the man are still recovering from the shooting. She and her kids can't return to the home out of fear that Dennis could return. Family members say he actually lived in the home at one time. 

"I can't even grasp it why would you do something like that to someone who houses you," Humphrey said.

Family members say they want anyone who has information about Dennis and where he might be to understand their pain and speak up. The family also started a gofund me account so they can pay for funeral expenses and hopefully find new housing for Williams and her children as the search for Dennis continues
