Detroit White Castle turns into crime scene after shooting

Police were at the White Castle on Greenfield and the Lodge investigating a shooting that happened Saturday afternoon.

The restaurant turned into a crime scene around 3:00 p.m. and a woman who works next door says a guy got hit in the buttocks with a bullet.

“He was limping like he was about to pass out and I just seen a car pull up in the parking lot and then he jumped in the car and they pulled off,” the woman said.

While police have not confirmed that the man was picked up, they did say the suspect and victim got into an argument before the shooting. Then, the shooter drove off and the victim never showed up at the hospital or to make a police report.

“The people nowadays have no regards for human life or consequences,” said regular customer Sean Booth.

Other regulars were also upset about the shooting.

“See bullets don’t have eyes,” said regular customer Theresa Garner. “So, I could have been going to White Castle and I could have been shot just as well.”

The White Castle is sandwiched between two Green Light Locations that are monitored by Detroit Police, but that did not stop the shooter.

“If you do something like that in the middle of the day with everybody watching, then you don’t care about anything,” Booth said.

If you have any information on the incident, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
