The Detroit Police Department has released several images related to the gun scare at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center.

Police released grainy security image of man in a dark suit walking on a Detroit sidewalk. At the same time, they also released a photo of the security image that shows what looks like a gun inside of a bag.

The image appears to show a revolver inside the bag, on the right side.

The Coleman A. Young building was closed for the day and will reopen on Tuesday. Detroit Police said they are still working to evacuate the building and are searching for the suspect.

According to Detroit Police Chief James Craig, a suspect got through security with what's believed to be a handgun in a bag. Craig said the gun was in a bag that went through security screening but the weapon was not noticed until after the man had cleared security.

Craig said the image wasn't available in the scan until after the man got into the building.

Mayor Mike Duggan wasn't at city hall, formally known as Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, but Craig said judges, City Council members and others were safely removed.

Andrew Sokoly, a member of Councilman Scott Benson's staff, told the Detroit Free Press he was in his office with a few other staffers a little before 9:30 a.m. when an announcement over the public address system said to stay inside and lock the door.

About an hour and 15 minutes after the lockdown was announced, Sokoly said there was loud knock on the door by a SWAT team member with a long rifle and tactical gear. He and other staffers were escorted out the building on a freight elevator.
