Family displaced after fire destroys Detroit apartment

Flames pour out of a Detroit apartment on Monday afternoon.
DETROIT (FOX 2) - A family was home when a fire destroyed their Detroit apartment Monday afternoon.
The fire started in a second floor unit at Pembroke Apartments on Southfield near Eight Mile.
"The whole thing, the time we tried to put it out with the baking soda, it just caught on fire," said a woman who lives in the apartment. "I'm telling the man downstairs to get the kids out the house."
Everyone made it out safely, and no other units were damaged.
Video of the scene showed flames pouring out of the building, engulfing an entire unit on the second floor.

There were no injuries after the fire at the Pembroke Apartments in Detroit, near the Southfield Freeway.
"Everything was literally contained to this one apartment," Detroit Fire Senior Chief Darnell McLaurin said.
Investigators are now working to determine the cause of the fire.
