Detroit police say the gunfire erupted at the corner of Concord and Canfield Wednesday night.
One of the bullets struck 55-year-old Joseph Turner, Sr., in the head, killing him.
Investigators say they are still working to figure out the motive behind the shooting and they are looking for at least two suspects.
Police believe they were last seen driving either a 2003 or 2004 tan Mercury Marquis and they only have a vague description of how the suspects may look.

Michelle Cameron Turner has been getting support from family and friends one day after her husband's death.
"Why," Turner said. "He didn't do bad things to people. He was a homebody.
"On the sidewalk, I didn't see him," Turner said. "They said mom he's out there. I said girl your daddy isn’t out there. She said yes he is momma; you've got to go downstairs.
"So I did. I just start hollering."
Police and family say turner went to the store with his son to grab some snacks, and they were loading groceries in the driveway.
"He loved his potato chips," Turner said. "Yes he did."
Those who knew Turner describe him as someone full of laughter.
"I remember him coming to my parties, he danced," said one relative. "He loved life."
