Fire ruins two homes in Novi, leaves families displaced

A fire on Saturday evening left two houses off 10 Mile Road ruined and two families displaced.

The flames broke out around 8 p.m. in the garage of one house on Sullivan Lane, then jumped next door. No one was hurt in the incident.

"I heard explosions and those were from the garage," said neighbor Bob Corwin.

They got out right away. Everybody is safe, even Logan the dog.

This was a very aggressive fire. Dozens of firefighters were called to the scene to relieve each other from the smoke.

"We know that it started in the garage, the homeowner had called in the fire," said Jeff Johnson, director of EMS/fire in Novi.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
