Grandparents to stand trial today for death of 5-year-old who accidentally shot herself

A trial is scheduled today for the grandparents of 5-year-old Mariah Davis, who was shot and killed in May after getting a hold of a family handgun.

Patricia McNeal and Frederick Davis, both 65 years old, are facing several charges, including involuntary manslaughter.

The two were babysitting Mariah and her brother, along with a neighbor, on May 11 when she went into the grandparents' bedroom and found the gun under a pillow.

Davis found his granddaughter hurt on the bed in another room and called 911. The child did not survive.
