Man accused of fatally running over girlfriend faces judge

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - A Macomb County man appeared in court  was accused of getting into an argument with his girlfriend then running over and killing her with his pick-up truck.

It was a very emotional day for the family and friends of  Julie Williamson's family. The woman's boyfriend was in court, formerly charged with her murder.

They sat in the first two rows, seeing Mike Rosenmund on video as he was arraigned for reckless driving causing death and homicide-manslaughter with a motor vehicle.

"We were all shaking, it  affected us, definitely," said Geri Williamson, the victim's sister in law.

"Just the rush of remembering my daughter laying in that bed and how she got there," said Cheryl Simmons, Williamson's mother.

Investigators say Julie Williamson was found naked in her front lawn last month, struck or dragged by her boyfriend's pick-up truck and left for dead.

The Mount Clemens mother of two died from her injuries. On Tuesday, Rosenmund's bond was set at $300,000.

Rosenmund's friend, Stanford Williams, defended him after the hearing.

"I grew up with him, I know his temper, he's not like that," Williams said. "I know his ex-wife. I know Mike has a little bit of a temper. He was working on that, he was going through counseling for it because his temper got the best of him. As far as him hitting a woman, that is not Mike."

Rosenmund is currently on probation and does have a criminal record for drug charges in 2014, according to Michigan Department of Corrections records.

He took a plea for six counts including possession, maintaining a drug house and delivering/manufacturing a controlled substance in Macomb County.

Through the grief, Williamson's friends and family are remembering a woman loved by so many.

"Julie was smart, funny, she loved her kids more than life," Simmons said. "Our family motto was 'ohana' which means family. And in family no one gets left behind or forgotten. Ever."
