Man shot inside car drives to gas station for help

A man went in early Wednesday morning and says he's been shot in the arm at the BP gas station at Eight Mile and Dequindre.

"There was a lot of blood," the clerk said.

Soon after, the business became a crime scene and officers investigated the victim's car.

"I heard from police that there was three bullet holes, that someone was probably shooting at him," said the clerk.

Detroit police and employees at the station say the victim doesn't speak English well, so when the 29-year-old victim got here around 6 a.m., he walked in the front door, handed over his ID, and asked for help.

Before he said anything, the victim doesn't waste any time locking the door.

"At first, I didn't know what to think," the clerk said. "I was like, why is he locking the door? is he trying to rob me?"

The victim sat on the floor until police arrive.

"I could just see fear in his eyes and he kept looking back like somebody was following him," the clerk said.

Police are trying to figure out what led up to the shooting, who did it, and where it actually happened.

FOX 2: "Could he explain anything?"

"I tried for the first minute," the clerk said. "He was being unresponsive and then he just points with his finger, and said somebody shot me."

This employee doesn't want to show his face saying there is too much crime in this area.

"A lot of our customers and other customers in the area always feel unsafe, especially at night."

Once police figure out the location for where the crime took place, they're hoping surveillance cameras will be in the area for them to take a look at.
