Metro Detroiters pay tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11

Dozens of memorial ceremonies were held Friday morning to mark the 14th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Students at Western International High School reflected on the attacks that killed about 3,000 people.   Most of them were too young to remember.

"With this ceremony we honor the loss of family and friends. We honor the lives of those lost trying to save the victms of sept 11 2001,"

During a memorial service in Detroit, Mayor Mike Duggan commended emergency responders who answered about 300,000 calls last year alone.

"This is a day to step back and think about the courage we have seen," said Duggan.

The University of Michigan dedicated a special memorial to the victims of 9/11. It was part of the "9/11 Never Forget" project.
