Michigan gas prices down 6 cents, AAA says

DETROIT (FOX 2) - Michigan gas prices are down, and they could continue to drop, according to data from AAA.
Drivers are now paying an average of $3.03 for a gallon of unleaded gas, down 6 cents from a week ago. The price is also 14 cents less than this time a month ago, but one cent more than this time a year ago.
By the numbers:
The price per gallon equates to about $45 for a full 15-gallon tank - down about $12 from 2024's highest price last July.
Metro Detroit's gas price averages also decreased. Drivers are paying an average of $3.14 per gallon, about 5 cents less than last week’s average but still 15 cents more than the same time last year. Despite the drop, Metro Detroit still has the highest gas price averages in the state.

What's next:
According to AAA, gas prices may continue to trend downward.
"Michigan motorists are seeing lower prices at the pump," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group. "If crude oil prices fall, alongside low demand, gas prices may continue to drop."
