Mother speaks at sentencing of brothers convicted of killing her sons

Nearly two years after two men were gunned down, their mother spoke in court at the sentencing of those convicted.

"My name is Leda Watts and I am the mother of Louis Phillips and Alex Stewart," said the mother.

Taking place on Schaeffer Street on Detroit's west side, the shooting happened in April of 2017. Now on Tuesday afternoon, she spoke to the brothers convicted.

"Louis and Alex were loved, cherished and respected by everyone that they encountered," said Watts.

The men, Arthur Stanley and Aubrey Stanley, both maintain their innocence.

"First of all, my heart goes out to Mrs. Watts," said Arthur Stanley. "Sorry for your loss. Unfortunately I didn't commit this crime that I've been basically accused of."

Both men will spend their life behind bars.
