"Move over" law in effect, $400 ticket for violators

The message from police is simple, move over or pay a hefty price.

The new “move over law” for police and emergency vehicles is in effect. If you get caught not doing so a $400 ticket will be issued.

It’s not just moving over for light and sirens, but the new law will also protect garbage, utility and road maintenance workers.

This follows a good deal of cases where emergency vehicles were hit while on the shoulder of the road with lights flashing.

The goal is to make the road safer for everyone. Police just want drivers to use common sense.
