An 18-year old man was shot in the head and his girlfriend is under arrest, accused of pulling the trigger.

Police say it appears the victim and his girlfriend Anne Zarras were having an argument about their relationship when the shooting happened at about 8 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators say at some point a gun belonging to someone inside the house in the 15000 block of Richfield, was used to shoot the victim.

Police are not releasing the victim's name but they say he is listed in critical condition at a local hospital

Zarras, 18, was taken into police custody and was arraigned on Friday. She is now facing several charges including assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

"I saw them go in with a stretcher and come out," said neighbor Donald Hogrefe.

Those who know Zarras say it's shocking.

"She was super kind, super sweet, super intelligent, I would never expect this from her," said Heath Stilwell, a former classmate.

"Ann has always been a sweet girl, very shy, very quiet, I don't know who this man was," said neighbor Prudence Hogrefe.
