Brad Smith, a pro-life advocate says his wife and him were pushed to have an abortion three times within a half-an-hour of meeting with a doctor. Smith and his wife were among the dozens who gathered outside the Planned Parenthood clinic in Ferndale on Saturday in an organized national day of protest against the organization. Joining them was Faith, the couples now 6 1/2 year-old daughter.

That was their reasoning for being at the protest Saturday. What is the basis of the protests?

The organization has been at the center recent investigations that have revealed the organization to have been selling and harvesting baby body parts.

The protest in Ferndale on Saturday was part of a national day of protest that saw demonstrations happen at Planned Parenthood offices and abortion clinics all around the country.

But at this protest, it was the sight of a demonstration by the Satanic Temple of Detroit that seemingly left the longest lasting impression with its members having gallons of milk poured down their throats, almost in a water-boarding type fashion.

Jex Blackmore of the Temple, said "we opted to do a form of political theater because we feel very much that is what the opposition is doing. Milk to us is symbolic of motherhood and we feel clergy is promoting a form of theocracy in forcing women to adhere to their ethical guidelines."

While most that were protesting Saturday in Detroit will never see eye-to-eye on the issue, at least they can share their opinions peacefully.

Whether they are passionate about life or or the right to choose, the right to demonstrate won on Saturday.

just ask the smith family.

Several states have intiated investigations into Planned Parenthood since the recent finding came out.

Legislation is also being introduced in Congress to try and get rid of the organizations federal funding.
