Replacing Flint water pipes double estimated cost

Recovering from the Flint water crisis might be a lot more costly than originally thought.

A new report says the average cost for replacing water pipes is $7,500.

That's nearly double the estimates from last fall.

The true cost might be even higher, once permit fees and other charges are added on.

The increased cost estimates might further complicate how much the state should spend to help the city recover.
