Taylor Farms recall: States where lettuce pulled over Cyclospora fears

Taylor Farms de Mexico’s statement detailing the recall on its products that contained iceberg lettuce from central Mexico linked to a Cyclospora outbreak lists what is included, as well as when and where those items were sold.

The list of 27 states where the shredded lettuce was distributed that was provided by Taylor Farms extends from New Jersey to Florida on the East Coast and stretches as far west as Texas in the South to Iowa in the Midwest. The affected lettuce was sent out between June 29 and July 16, according to the statement that was posted on the Food and Drug Administration website

Taylor Farms warns the lettuce may be contaminated with Cyclospora, which can lead to diarrhea with frequent bowel movements. It can also cause a loss of appetite, bloating, gas, nausea, and fatigue, among other symptoms. Some people may not experience symptoms at all, however. 

Cyclospora can lead to dehydration and severe complications that could require medical attention. The complications could last a few days or a few months, and may even return.

What's next:

The recall is one part of Taylor Farms’ actions in response to the Cyclospora outbreak. The company has been working to remove the implicated products. 

Taylor Farms noted that it has stopped distributing the iceberg lettuce it sourced from Central Mexico, its customers have been notified, and it is working with government agencies on their response.
