Teen says she was raped by 20-year-old

A 14-year-old girl says she was assaulted, telling police she was raped by a man she met a day before the attack.

"They had guns to the side of the door, I came out with my hands up," said Rodney Pearson. "I had no idea what was going on."

Rodney Pearson says he lives in a west side Detroit home on Tracey street - the same house the teen says she was raped in Wednesday by his 20-year-old cousin.

Pearson's cousin turned himself into police Thursday afternoon.

"I don't believe she was raped," Pearson said.

According to a report filed with police, the teen says she was walking on Tracey Tuesday, meeting the man by a gas station. She says they exchanged phone numbers, agreeing to meet up the next day.

"She said something that she went to his house," said Latonya, the mother of the rape victim who declined to give her last name. "Was supposed to be picking something up for his cousin, they were supposed to be going to the store. I don't know what happened.

"I will never know what really happened. I believe my daughter, she said no."

Wednesday the teen says the man met her at Pearson's house while Pearson was at the store. The girl says when the man brought her upstairs, she didn't want to. That's when she says, he raped her.

"She said no and she told him she wanted to leave the house and he wouldn't let her leave without having sex with him first."

But Pearson says he saw them both leave.

"She wanted money, she didn't give it," he said.

According to the police report, the 14-year-old girl says the suspect threatened her as she was leaving. She says he yelled not to tell anyone and that if she did, he'd hurt her or anyone she told.

FOX 2: "Didn't you find it weird he was trying to scare her?"

"Kind of," Pearson said.

The teens mother says she's angry and says she is proud of her daughter for coming forward and calling police.

"She's just really upset," Latonya said. "She is blaming herself. I tol her it's not your fault."

As police question that 20-year-old man, Latonya says she is going to pursue the matter to the fullest.

"She's 14 and he's 20, what was he thinking," she said.
