Armored vehicles drove through the streets as the fires burned Monday.

Charlie LeDuff and the Americans was there to see the flames and the police response as the clock ticked toward midnight.

"Where's the fire trucks," LeDuff said, watching at least two buildings engulfed in the business district.

LeDuff met Jay, a photographer from the London Daily Mirror.

"What do you think of us," LeDuff said.

"It's sad, very sad," Jay said. "It's sad that they would want to do this to where they live."

"Maybe to a small element it's a license to let hell come loose."

"They achieved it," LeDuff said.
