Trump's proposal wants to ban Muslims from coming to US

Donald Trump announces a controversial plan to fight terrorism - banning all Muslims from coming into the United States.

That includes students, spouses, business owners and tourists. His plan was released this evening and it quickly went viral.

Many in metro Detroit are not happy at the proposal -angering many but revving up his supporters.

"Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until the country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on," Trump read in a statement.

That was GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump's answer to the terror attack in San Bernardino, California

"I think that almost every single person here, unless you're a native American- you're an immigrant," said Dell Littlejohn.

Needless to say it's rubbing many the wrong way.

"It's racist," said Keith Bassett. "He's a complete racist."

His wife Courtney Bassett added she though it was narrow minded.

"He for some reason feels that all Muslims are a representation of ISIS and people overseas," said Greg Samuels. "But they're just regular people like me you and everyone else."

Regular people that want us dead, according to a survey Trump says.

"Twenty-five percent of those polled agree that violence against Americans, here in the United States is justified," Trump said. "As part of the global jihad.

"Due to all the mass shootings done by majorly Christian white men, it's like saying they can't come to the US after all that they've done," said Kassie Abouzeid.

Dawud Walid from the Council on American Islamic Relations said that Trump's comments are dangerous.

"His comments have delved down lower than the level of just being xenophobic," Walid said. "He has officially gone fascist now."

But not everyone agrees Trump is totally off base.

FOX 2: "Should we ban all Muslims from coming to America?"

"No not all," said one woman.

Another said "I think we need obviously a better system to screen them because what we're using isn't working."

"A lot of people come into this country illegally and legally," said Buzz Kelley.  "And we're not vetting them properly and we don't know what their intentions truly are."

One of the big questions is whether that will cause the Trump campaign to lose any steam. One Republican insider said probably, but it won't hurt his base supporters, because it resonates with a lot of people.
