Warren man sentenced to life for killing wife, stuffing her in a closet

MT CLEMENS, Mich. (WJBK) - He murdered his wife, stuffed her body in a closet then dumped her in a makeshift grave in northern Michigan.

Now almost two years later, Loyd DeJohn sentenced to life in prison for murdering his wife Kimberly in 2014.

In court some of Kimberly's family members had their say Thursday.

"He took my sister, my best friend," said Brenda Ernst, her sister. "He threw her away like a piece of trash, did not deserve that.

"He has not shown any remorse on this whole thing throughout the trial. I feel that justice has been done."

The Warren man was found guilty of strangling Kimberly and leaving her body in a closet for several days before burying her in a vacant lot in Cheboygan County.

Investigators and family members say Loyd DeJohn was having an affair with another woman, who was also his cousin.

"It's sickening it's just absolutely sickening," Ernst said after court. "Knowing that your wife is in the closet and you have your girlfriend there? Who does that?"

Loyd DeJohn didn’t show any emotion in court and he did not speak during his sentencing.

Kimberly's sister Tawn Hyslop said not only has she lost a sister, she lost a brother-in-law who she was very close to.

"When he was married to my sister, we were like three peas in a pod," said Hyslop. "So I am not just losing my sister, I am losing a brother in law."
